A Report on this event by Joy Saunders

The East Anglia Branch met for lunch and tea at Wimpole Hall during October. Our numbers were small but swelled by a very small member of the next generation, but we had great fun. Some of us explored the grounds with a member of the gardening staff, and were fascinated by the work of the team recreating the garden as it was in the 18th century. Others went round the house, or visited the animals in the Home Farm. Many thanks to all who came – and I hope that others may join us next time.

Here is a short report on that gathering

The new
Herts, Bucks, Oxon and Hants
MOSA Branch.

Joy Saunders writes

It was great to be invited to the first meeting of the new Hertfordshire branch on July 26th 2008. Sarah (Piercy) Bell and her husband Alex made OS very welcome at their home in Hemel Hempstead, and the ten of us enjoyed a delicious bring-and-share lunch together. Sarah and Alex are doing grand works in their new garden, and a model railway is being installed. We admired their wedding photos – no surprise to note that it had a railway theme! It was a lovely afternoon, and although a visit to Waddesdon Manor was mooted, we opted to sit in the garden and chat. We reflected on how The Mount had influenced our lives, remembering the friendship and good fellowship, the excellent teaching we had been given, and above all the values and ideals we had been taught and which guide us in our lives. Old times were then recalled, and there was much laughter over the things we had got up to, and the subject of school meals came up. Does anyone else remember ‘dead baby’s leg’ and ‘flies’ cemetery’?
Thank you, Sarah,
for a lovely day.
